First the boys were sick, then my laptop craps out... So bear with me while I try to post from my iPad so that you guys don't think we've dropped off the face of the earth! And I'm just going to take this moment to comment on how Apple's autocorrect may be the worlds dumbest invention. Are we so lazy that we can't take 10 seconds to proof read our work?! Instead we let some moron autobot change the entire context of our thoughts by changing our words into the most ridiculous of alternatives. Now we look lazy and unbelievably stupid. And I thought those computer programmer guys were geniuses. Did they hire the rejects to program auto correct? Like the English class dropouts or something? Who in their right mind would think that when I type represented I meant to say repose Santa?! Ok, I'm done!Anyways! Yesterday was letter I day! We started off by reading one of our all time favorite books- Iggy Peck, Architect. It took about 62 times longer than usual, because I made the boys read all of their sight words. They are great at recognizing the words, but getting them to look away from the pictures and at said words takes some time! After that we sprawled out on the living room floor for a letter game where the boys had to match the upper and lowercase letters on ice cream cones. I was amazed at how easily they did this... Even with the tricky ones like p, b, d, and q! For our math work, we focused on the number 9. The boys each had to collect 9 of something to bring to their desks. Matthew chose 9 duplo blocks and Caleb chose 9 pieces of food from the food bin. They each had to work on adding and subtracting until they had exactly 9 of their item. Thn we used our bead counters to count out 9. I gave them diffent numbers, like 2 or 5 and they had to pick another bead counter that added with that first number made 9. They were pretty into it and We spent quite a bit of time discovering number combinations that added up to 9!Later in the evening we did a little more reading practice when we baked a pumpkin pie. Last time we baked together we focused on the numbers. This time we focused on reading the recipe. The boys had to sound out each ingredient before we could add it to the bowl... I was completely blown away at their ability to sound out words!! Jon was even more taken aback being that he hasn't really seen them work on their letters during the day. I made for a really fun evening... And a delicious pie that they boys were over the moon proud of!
