Big Boy Beds- Round Two

I know I swore we would never, ever do this again...  but here we are!  I was really set to keep the boys in their cribs until they went off to college.  For anyone who was with us for the first attempt, you know just how truly awful it was!!  After a week of absolutely no sleep, we were all walking zombies and I swore up and down we'd never try big boy beds ever again.   But the boys have been asking for them since we got home from California so we decided that instead of plotting ways to move cribs into their dorm rooms, we ought to give it another shot.  To help make the transformation, we thought we would re-do their room and turn it into a "big boy room"...  but Jon and I had significant difficulties with the thought of painting over their beloved little jungle animals.  After hemming and hawing for nearly three weeks, we finally settled on a compromise.  We would paint a splash of blue up on the top and brighten up the green on the bottom while keeping the yellow (and three of the four animals) intact in the middle.  Sadly we had to sacrifice Mr. Tiger on the bottom but it really turned out cute.  The boys now have a "big boy room" but they still have their animals.  And Jon and I still have the memory of the weekend we spent holed up in that room painting them- 7 months pregnant and dreaming of what the rest of our lives would be like once we laid our two precious babies to sleep in that room for the very first time.

Anyways- Here is a photo journey of the 24 hour big boy room transformation!  As of the writing of this very sentence, the boys have been in there for 10 minutes and we haven't yet heard the patter of little feet on the wood floor.  Maybe this will go better than last time.  Or maybe we'll get a sense of false hope because the boys didn't nap today and tomorrow night will be the true nightmare!  Or even worse, maybe tomorrow night will be fine because we will never nap again!!!  Ahhh!!!  Just so long as it is only half as bad as our first attempt, I think we can survive this.  I think we can, I think we can, I think we can!!!

Before.  Ok, I totally admit that this picture is from 3 years ago before the boys were even born!

Mid-Transformation...  The boys took some time to enjoy their empty room as a basketball court!

Ta-Da!  Not TOO different, but different enough to be a new big boy room!
