I feel a little guilty.  As I write this, the boys are playing upstairs, wholly unsupervised.  They have been up there for nearly 20 minutes.  Its really cold up there.  But I'm sitting downstairs, warm and peaceful, in front of my computer.  You see- we have finally crossed over to the other side.  And by other side- I mean the Island of Sodor.  I'm afraid its true.  The boys have entered a full blow Thomas phase.  I'm not sure how or why it happened.  They have only seen 6 episodes of Thomas in their entire lifetimes- and each episode is only about 10 minutes a piece.  At least once a week for the past two years we've gone to Barnes and Noble to play with their Thomas the Train table, but the boys have never once asked about having their own at home.  Its just something they love to go to the bookstore to play with and then we leave it there until next time.  But for the last two weeks or so we've been gradually more and more interested in Thomas- Hiro in particular- and then last night my mom got the boys each a cheap little train for Halloween instead of giving them candy.  And that's when we crossed over.  Jumped off the deep end.  Ever since 7:00am, we haven't put the trains down.  My mom bought them two different trains initially, but when both wanted the beloved Hiro, she made an early morning trip to the store to pick up another Hiro (and the venti caramel macchiato I so desperately needed!)...  and the boys have been completely engrossed ever since.  They literally can't put the things down.  And I don't care.  Because they are engaging in the most beautiful and peaceful play a mother can possible dream of.  So beautiful and peaceful that I'm tempted to leave them upstairs while I drive to Toys R Us and purchase two of every single train that has ever set foot on the Island of Sodor.  I still can't figure out what it is about Thomas, but I can confirm that we have fallen victim.  And I've got to say I'm loving every minute of it!
