I've been really bad about updating with our daily lessons- so I'm gonna cram a whole week into today's post! We worked on lots of reading and lots of crafts this week. Matthew is continuing to grasp the concept of reading... he's sounding things out and is getting great at any of his sight words. The downside is that now whenever Jon and I spell something in front of the boys to avoid them knowing what we're talking about, Matthew immediately repeats the letters and asks "What does x-y-z spell?!" Not wanting to miss a learning opportunity, we usually write it out on the big wipe off board in the dining room and if he can read it we'll tell him! Damn it- there goes any chance of keeping secrets!!! Caleb really isn't into reading right now. He sticks with me for the beginning of a lesson but then he wants to draw- so I let him. He's burning through pens and paper right now like its his job- and I guess technically it is. He's been drawing hundreds of trains and rockets a day- literally hundreds. The other day he went through 46 pieces of computer paper in one sitting- all covered from edge to edge with trains and rockets. It is amazing to see his drawings progress from day to day... they get more detailed and more clear. But I'm starting to wish we had bought stock in computer paper- I think we could have struck it rich!!!!
We've also been doing lots of crafts- autumn and Halloween stuff. It's all great fine motor work for the boys and they are doing great with it. They love to see what mama is gonna pull out of the art bin each morning :) And with the nice weather we've had here this week we even did one of our art projects outside. Here's a quick peek at what we've been up to!
Hours and HOURS of drawing...

Crayon shaving and leaf sun catchers- Thank you Miss Heather!!!

Matthew was SO excited to spend an afternoon with his pencil sharpener!

A surprise for Daddy on the front window when he came home from work

Leaf trees

Cal loves gluing!!

Cutest little hands and feet

And a few worksheets mixed in with all the fun- Matthew was GREAT at counting, writing out the answer was a bit more challenging but he worked so hard at it!
