Sleep, Wake, Forget

Last night the boys got a fun call- they were asked to film a scene this morning in an independent feature film titled "Sleep, Wake, Forget" that was written and directed by a young Michigan film maker.  The scene was a flashback/dream scene that filmed just outside of Lansing.  The movie is a sci-fi/post-apocalyptic type thing so we had to ask a few questions to make sure what the boys would be filming was appropriate for them, but the director assured us that the scariest thing they might see would be the horses they had on set at the same time...  so off we went to Lansing!  That actually proved to be more of a challenge than one would expect.  With all of the shootings along I-96, we decided to avoid 96 even though that is the fastest, most direct route up to Lansing...  we didn't really want to get shot at today!  So we took the scenic route instead- the boys ended up napping for a bit so Jon and I just got to spend some quiet time together.

When we arrived on set, everyone was bundled up head to toe- it was COLD!  We had to wait a bit for the boys scene so we stayed in the car so as not to freeze our little actors to death before their big moment  :)  When it was finally time to film, they let the kids keep all of their warm stuff on while they got the scene set up and then had the assistant run through at the very last second to collect hats and coats and mittens!  It was pretty cute!  Luckily the director picked the boys thick heavy GAP sweatshirt for them to film in- so we were able to put two more long sleeve shirts on under that so they stayed pretty warm.

The scene was actually pretty cool- there were 5 or 6 kids (all older) and a few adults.  It was in this little mowed down area of this really awesome field.  They did a few takes of the whole scene, then did some close up shots of the boys.  The director was wonderful and did the boys close up shots first so we could get them wrapped up again!  It was really awesome because the last time the boys filmed they were babies- they were amazing on set, but they were just expected to be babies.  This time they were given directions by the director and it was just awesome to see them listen and follow directions!  Granted- they were kid-sized directions, but it was still impressive!!  When the boys finished filming, everyone on set gave them a big cheer and they looked so excited and proud!!!  The director posed for a quick picture with the boys and just like that we were done  :)  It was just a quick scene (thanks to a great director who got the kids in and out as quickly as she could) but it was a really great experience for the boys.  We were so proud of them!
