I'm so sorry I wasn't able to keep up on the blog while we were in Los Angeles!  For one I hated blogging from my iPad, and for two, we were just too darn busy!!!  So here is a recap of our week.  It was absolutely fantastic and we were so sad to leave- but so excited to get back home to daddy and Rigby.  Although Matthew decided that daddy and Rigby should have just come out to California so we could all stay  :)

Sunday November 4th- We left Detroit at 6:55am, had a layover in Denver and arrived in Los Angeles at 10:00am.  It felt like we arrived at bedtime, but LA was just waking up and we had an entire day ahead of us!  The boys were absolutely fantastic on both planes.  They are quite experienced little travelers at only 3 years old!  When we landed, we picked up our car and headed to Aunt Cindy and Uncle Charlie's house just outside of Pasadena.  And let me just tell you, if I ever become rich (or if any of you want to send me a few million dollars!)- that is my dream house!  I just love, love, LOVE their house!!!  The boys do too  :)  They ran straight back to the grapefruit tree to pick some grapefruits, which serve as both a snack and a toy.  Then they spent the remainder of the day playing in the back yard.  It was really nice because my mom and I were able to just sit and visit with my aunt and uncle... something we rarely get to do!

Matthew was seriously concerned as to why this plane was floating in the water!

Monday November 5th-  We had to get up quite early to get down to Santa Monica for the boys GAP callback.  Its so hard not to know what to expect for something like that, but it turned out to be a pretty relaxing experience believe it or not!  The boys waited patiently for their turn, then went and took their pictures with the photographer.  I can even begin to tell you how beautiful the other children were- it was literally like a gathering of LA's most beautiful kids!!!  There were babies and toddlers auditioning at the same time, and they were all just so gorgeous!  The boys auditioned really well, but unfortunately they didn't book the shoot.  In all honesty, I wasn't even disappointed.  Well- in a second I'm going to take that back.  But first- I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed that they didn't book.  All we have ever hoped for in following these modeling and acting opportunities is that the boys get to experience new and wonderful things and that they have fun doing it.  And just by attending the callback- we had accomplished both of those things.  Of course we would have loved to see their faces in GAP stores all over the country- but I felt truly content in that the experience was wonderful and that the boys represented themselves well and had a good time!  But now I can tell you why I was slightly disappointed.  Jon and I decided to give this GAP callback a shot- hoping that it would provide some clarity and direction for us.  We thought that if the boys booked, we'd know they really have what it takes and that we should continue.  And if they got there and hated it or threw a fit, we'd know they aren't really enjoying it and we'd be done.  Seriously- I was kind of hoping for the latter.  It just seemed easier!  But of course, we split the rail- the boys had fun and did great but didn't book.  So no concrete sense of clarity or direction, which is a little disappointing!  Anyways- after the callback, we headed over to the Santa Monica Pier where we got to play by the ocean for awhile and the boys got to hold some parrots on the pier!!!  The birds were a completely new experience for the boys and it was just awesome to see.

Tuesday November 6th- We tried to take the boys to one of their favorite skate parks, but sadly they weren't too into skating.  So instead we went exploring in and around Santa Clarita for awhile and found two really fun parks- one with a nature center and some hiking trails and another with an old steam engine that the boys got to climb around on!  They were VERY excited!

Wednesday November 7th- My Aunt Cindy had the day off so she was able to spend the whole day with us. We went to Griffith Park so the boys could play at a favorite playground and we also went to Travel Town, which is a big train museum with all sorts of real engines and such!  The boys were in 3 year old boy heaven!  The funniest part was that literally EVERY single other person there was with a 3 year old boy!  Apparently trains are what 3 year old boys are supposed to do!!!  After we were all trained-out (at least the grown-ups), we went into Studio City for lunch.  Then we met the boys' new manager at Suck Its, which was the boys all time favorite dessert place in LA!  Debbie, our new manager, was just wonderful and we had a great little visit.  Matthew insisted on choosing an avocado sucksicle and I was a bit surprised when he gobbled the entire thing!  I love my adventurous boys  :)

Thursday November 8th-  I didn't want to pass up what may be a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we woke up early and took the boys to the California Science Center.  We had visited the science center over the summer, but just recently it became home to the Endeavor Space Shuttle, and with the boys interest in space we just had to go see it!  It was truly amazing!  If felt so powerful to be standing next to such an important piece of modern history.  Then we hit another of the boys favorite playgrounds- Holmby Park in Beverly Hills- and last but not least we stopped at Diddy Riese.  If you are not familiar with Diddy Riese, it is only the worlds best cookie shop that my friend Steph introduced us to over the summer.  I'm glad I don't live near there, because if I did, I would get SOOOO fat!  I think I could eat Diddy Riese ice cream sandwiches every day for the rest of my entire life!  In addition to stuffing our faces, we also brought home a dozen cookies for daddy and a dozen for Miss Steph  :)

Friday November 9th- Time to come home!  It was a looooong travel day, with a two hour layover in Chicago.  We got home at 11:00pm.  Once again, the boys were more than wonderful.  It was their 10th and 11th plane ride after all, so they should be getting the hang of it by now!  Matthew really didn't want to come home.  Instead he wanted Daddy, Rigby and Grandpa to come out to LA.  Not a bad idea kid!  He still tells me a few times a day that he is sad we had to leave California.  I just tell him that maybe we will get the opportunity to go back some day.  Or we'll get the opportunity to go somewhere new and exciting.  All I know is that at the end of the day, we can't say we have any regrets.  Even though the boys didn't book their job, I know in my heart of hearts that they are better people and we are a better family for having tried  :)
