Adventures in Sand Land!

So last weekend the construction guys working on Carlysle dumped trucks full of sand on the curb- enough to make a small mountain!  When it was still there later that evening, we couldn't help ourselves.  The "mountain" was about 8 feet tall on the street side and had a gentle edge sloping down to our lawn with a perfect little ledge in it that seemed to be calling the names of two adorable little construction-workers-in-training  :)  So donning their yellow plastic hard hats, driving their dump trucks and excavators, and with shovels in hand, we hit the sand!  Every single night this week, we eat dinner then head outside to sand land.  Jon and Rigby flatten out a little spot to sit right in the middle and I pull up a chair at the bottom to catch anyone who happens to take a tumble (and yes- on more than one occasion I was glad I was there!)  The boys shovel and dig.  They fill their dump truck, truck it across the pile, and dump it on the other side.  With their excavator they push dirt up the mountain, stop at the top to wave at the cars driving by, and watch as their dirt tumbles off the other side.  Tonight we decided to take out one of the sleds and take a few runs down our mountain.  I can't even describe the pure joy on their faces!!!  It's like Disney World in our own back yard...   a little boy's dream come true  :)  Not sure what we're going to do when they actually need to use that sand for something.  But until then, join us in our adventures in sand land....
