California Adventure- Day 13

Jon and I woke up this morning in Laguna Beach  :)  We slept on the most glorious bed you can possibly imagine!!  Apparently rich people have the right idea when they buy those uber-expensive sheets that I usually make fun of while buying the cheapest jersey cotton I can find!  It was like sleeping on a cloud!!!  We had grand plans of waking up early and walking the beach to look for sea glass, but those sheets (and the fact that there weren't two toddlers running circles around us and whining for breakfast) put the kaibosh on that plan.  Instead we slept in until almost 9:00am (heaven!) and had then breakfast.  I just have to say- every single person on earth should stay at least one night at the Casa Laguna Inn JUST so you can eat breakfast there.  It was seriously the best breakfast I've ever had... and not just because there weren't two toddlers running circles around us and begging for their own breakfast  :)  After breakfast we headed back up the PCH towards "home".  Jon and I both found it strange to say we were going "home" but that's really what it felt like.  Laguna Beach felt like a vacation but going back to the condo just felt like home.  Its such a neat feeling when vacation starts to feel like home  :)  We stopped for the morning in Huntington Beach to check out some of the skate shops, but again, apparently they don't have toddlers in those parts either because we were hard pressed to find any toddler shirts for the boys in any of the local shops.  We did end up finding them some super cute Volcom shirts but we were a little bummed that we couldn't find anything local.  But then...   then we hit the jackpot.  We walked the boardwalk for a bit and found the most amazingly awesome surprise in the whole world.  Or at least this side of Hawaii!  Real Hawaiian Shave Ice!!!!  I haven't had one since my summer in Hawaii because I've never found a real one...  but this was it!!!  It was the perfect ending to a perfect little mini-vacation  :)  And Jon finally got to experience what I've been talking about for the last 11 years!

The boys were so excited to see us when we walked in at lunch time!  As nice as it was to be away, it was even better to be back right where we belong.  Although I think the boys totally wore out my parents and Alex because after lunch they all promptly fell asleep!  And they only had them for 24
hours!!!!  LOL! The boys took a long/late nap so we decided that they could stay up for a bit of an evening adventure :) We headed out to the Van Nuys Pedlow skate park and the boys and Alex had an absolute blast! Alex even dropped them into the 10 foot bowl! They thought they were so gosh darn cool!!! They did look pretty awesome in their new shirts :) The boys were the last ones out of the park at dark. Yup, they shut the place down... our little rock stars! Its going to be so hard to go home and leave the skate scene here. The boys have made SO much progress on their boards and they are just hungry to skate.  Leaving all of these awesome parks might be tough!

On the way home, Caleb got VERY upset. He was blabbering on and on about not wanting to go home and go to bed because he was afraid of the lightening. We tried tirelessly to explain to him that it doesn't even rain here (seriously- what do these people do without a good rainy day once in awhile?!) so lightening was darn near impossible, but he wasn't having it. He insisted that his teddy bear "got lightening on himself" and he was truly quite upset about it. So after a game of 20 questions, we uncovered that his poor teddy bear did indeed get "lighteninged" by his white blanket.  The poor guy got a little shock of static electricity :) So after a good science lesson, Cal was all ready to go home and go to bed without fearing for his little bear's life. Too cute Cal, too cute!

Sorry for the complete and utter lack of pictures today!  I'll make up for it tomorrow  :)  Instead I'll give a shout out to my awsome parents and nephew Alex for watching the boys so Jon and I could get away for a little bit, and to Auntie Liz who has been sending us photo updates of our garden back home!!!  Hi and love you!!!!
