As if the boys haven't done enough growing up this summer, they had to really stick it to me this week. My parents bought them balance bikes for Christmas and they have kicked around on them in the backyard for most of the spring. We've even taken two trips to the park across the street... and in the time it took us to get there I could have flown to Chicago and back! But earlier this week we decided to head out on a family adventure. The boys wanted to play at Nowlin Park, which is about 10 blocks away. So we loaded their bikes into the van and I dropped them (and daddy!) off about 2 blocks from the park. The rode the rest of the way and then we played for awhile. They wanted to ride home but I didn't think they'd ever make it so I followed in the van, stopping ahead at the end of the block and waiting for them to catch up. But they never got in. The darn little buggers rode the whole way home! So the next night Jon took them up to Whitmore where he taught them to ride down a big long handicap ramp. They really learned how to lift their feet up and balance the bike... it was just flat out amazing to watch! Last night we "rode" up to Paul's Marketa few blocks down. And if I wasn't having a hard enough time watching the m grow up right before my eyes, Jon had to throw in a "Just think- in a few years they'll be riding their bikes down here by themselves!" Sadly he's right. I think the boys are taking this growing up thing full speed ahead... Check them out on their bikes and see for yourself-
